Feeding your cat can get aggravating sometimes of not knowing what to feed them and how much to feed them. Overfeeding a cat is a bad thing. It could cause all kinds of problems. Your cat could become obese which leads to feline diabetes and arthritis. There are certain foods that you should never feed your cat. Feline toxicity is a real thing. Here are some foods you should never feed your cat:

1. Onions
Onions aren’t good for cats because they can cause your cat to have anemia which deals with your cat’s red blood cells. Onions in large amounts are really poisonous. It doesn’t matter what kind of form, they are dangerous to your cat.

2. Garlic
Garlic also causes problems with your cat’s red blood cells. It’s stronger than onions which makes garlic more dangerous. Some symptoms are weakness, dull gums, and not eating. There were cat foods that had garlic powder in their food, it’s best to stay away from them.

3. Coffee
Coffee has caffeine in it. Caffeine is very bad for cats. It can cause restlessness, rapid breathing, and muscle tremors. In large amounts, it can cause death. Caffeine is found in soda and cold medicine.

4. Chocolate
Chocolate is toxic to dogs and cats. Chocolate can cause breathing problems, vomiting, blood pressure drop, seizures, and heightened thirst. Dark chocolate has more cocoa in it so it’s best to keep all chocolate away from your cat.

5. Grapes and raisins
Grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure in cats. Within 12 hours of eating the grape or raisin can cause vomiting and then abdominal pain.

6. Alcohol
Alcohol doesn’t have to be alcoholic drinks. Many things have alcohol in them. Alcohol can cause vomiting, tremors, disorientation, coma, and death. Always clean up any messes to avoid your cat drinking any.

7. Milk
You may have grown up seeing cats drinking milk in ads or cartoons. Adult cats should drink milk. It can cause diarrhea and upset the stomach.

8. Raw Dough
Raw Dough is toxic to cats because it can cause your cat to have stomach problems. Yeast rises which could cause your cat’s stomach to expand which could lead to a puncture in the intestines. Yeast could also release alcohol.

9. Bones
Bones of any size can cause your cat to choke and could cause digestion problems.

10. Green tomatoes or potatoes
Green Tomatoes has an alkaloid called Glycoalkaloid Solanine which is very toxic. They could cause digestion problems. Ripe tomatoes in small amounts are fine.

11. Xylitol
Xylitol can be found in candy, toothpaste, diet foods, and baked foods. Xylitol can cause liver damage. It can hike up your cat’s sugar levels. It also causes vomiting and loss of coordination.

12. Dog food
Dog food is meant for dogs, not cats. Cats have different nutritional needs than dogs. They need vitamin A, taurine, and a high amount of protein. Taurine is an amino acid that helps the heart and eyes. If your cat has a diet of mainly dog food, it could cause heart problems and vision problems down the road.
